The KLM is an organization oriented towards the needs of tall people. It was founded in Munich
over 50 years ago (April 17, 1953). There are currently districts in 23 cities in Germany with approx. 2.700 members.
Membership in KLM is available for people with above-average height the only conditions for an admission:
can become members of our tall club. There is no age limitation. KLM offers a much simpler chance to
meet similarly tall people in various social settings. Our meetings and activities are the basis for
enriching and interesting encounters.

In Germany the KLM currently consists of 23 districts
with approx. 2.700 members. Other Tall Clubs can be found in countries like Austria,
Switzerland, England, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Poland, the Czech Republic
and the United States of America.

The district Hannover was founded August 1, 1955, thus 50 years ago,
and counts approx. 120 members at the age from 18 up to 80 years.
Hannover
is situated in Lower Saxony and is the well known fair city, which hosts the CeBit and industry fair and held the EXPO 2000 world exhibition.

Four or five times a year we are publishing our
newsletter called »Leinelatten-Echo«, in which we are
offering meetings and activities as well as information about our district. This is delivered to each
of the members by standard mail or electronically by e-mail. In this manner, members also get the
latest updates and announcements from neighbouring clubs.
Twice a year the federal management board is publishing the journal
»Die Große Glocke«,
with information about spanning german-wide activities or previews and reviews of events, as well as
articles about tall interests and all addresses nationwide and abroad.
A further service for KLM members is the »Einkaufswegweiser«, a yearly catalogue national
company list of shops and service companies of all types especially aimed at tall people.
Unfortunately, this catalogue is still in an update phase and yet unavailable.

KLM offers its members a list of events that differs in each club, based on the membership interests
and age levels. In nearly every district there are regularly planned meetings, bowling events, weekend
outings, restaurant and festival meetings, hikes and other special events. The highlight of the year
in each district is an annual party to celebrate the club's founding. You can read the latest
plannings in our calendar of events.
The highlight of the KLM-year is the »European Convention«, annually held five weeks following Easter.
At this meeting, hundreds of members from the German and European clubs as well from oversea are in
attendance. The program runs a week and is divided into a pre-program (MondayWednesday) and a
main program (ThursdaySunday) and offers planned trips and visits to interesting areas of the
region. The focus of the main program is on the Europaball, a gala event on Saturday night. The
European Convention is sponsored by a different European club or city each year, i.e. 1993: Munich, 1994:
Prag, 1995: Amsterdam, 1996: Düsseldorf, 1997: Dresden, 1998: London, 1999: Dortmund, 2000: Luxemburg,
2001: Münster, 2002: Kopenhagen, 2003: Berlin, 2004: Basel.

Apart from companionable gatherings with like-minded people, the collection and
initialisation of various information about shopping sources or the discussion of minor or even major
problems, we simply try to make our tall life as simple as possible. Some offers or sources are at
least merits of the KLM.

The KLM also acts as an organ towards the industry to gain improvements of daily basic commodities,
whether cars or furniture. Internet polls are helping to find out problems or advantages and to
evaluate i. e. cars.
Although there are a lot of social meetings, the KLM is not a dating agency. There is and always will
be an opportunity to become acquainted to other tall men and women, but this should happen without constraint.
